PAPUA, “tabloidnusantara.com ” – Two Indigenous Papuan women (Orang Asli Papua, OAP) in Yahukimo, Ima Selopole (29) and Animira Kobak (25) became victims of sexual violence and tortured allegedly by the Separatist Terrorist Group (KSTP) Free Papua Organization (OPM) Kodap XVI Yahukimo, Papua Mountains.
The incident took place in the plantation of Kampung Baru Muara Bonto, Jl. Lower Paradiso Km 4, Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains Province, Wednesday (11/10/2023). With all their strength, the two native Papuan women tried to fight back against the attempted sexual violence by a number of Unknown Persons (OTK) who were carrying sharp weapons and firearms.
Thus, Ima Selopole suffered injuries from a sharp object (knife) and Animira Kobak suffered injuries to her genitals from a sharp weapon which resulted in her death.
Responding to the KSTP’s barbaric action, the Commander of the Joint Regional Defense Command (Pangkogabwilhan) III, Lt. Gen. Richard T.H Tampubolon strongly condemned the incident which was allegedly have been committed by part of the KST Kodap XVI Yahukimo group.
“How is it possible, in the name of the interests of the OAP community, while they tortured, raped and killed brutally by stabbing a knife into the genitals of Indigenous Papuan Women,” said Pangkogabwilhan III Lt. Gen. TNI Richard T.H. Tampubolon in its official statement, Monday (16/10/2023).

According to Pangkogabwilhan III, the incident of sexual violence against native Papuan women occurred in the area where Kodap XVI Yahukimo is located. “They always disturb the Papuan people. Indeed, Violence by Unknown Persons against Indigenous Papuans (OAP) which is still occurring in Papua must be stopped so that the safe and peaceful conditions in Papua can be achieved. In this way, the welfare of the Papuan people can be attained more quickly, as has been attempted by Indonesian government through Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2020 concerning the Acceleration of Welfare Development in Papua Province and West Papua Province,” said Richard.
Further, he added that Indonesian Vice President K.H. Ma’ruf Amin, as Chair of the Steering Committee for the Integrated Coordination Team for the Acceleration of Welfare Development in Papua Province and West Papua Province, when visiting Papua emphasized that a conducive political, legal and security (Polhukam) situation is needed for the program to accelerate welfare development in Papua and West Papua.
