Denpasar, “TABLOIDNUSANTARA.COM” – Marked by the signing of two inscriptions with the names of GOR Yudomo and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Stadium and ended with the planting of Klengkeng Trees by the Regional Military Commander IX/Udayana Major General TNI Sonny Aprianto, SE, M.M., indicating that the GOR and Praja Raksaka Stadium located at the Kesatrian Praja Raksaka Kepaon Complex, South Denpasar have officially changed their names.
At the inauguration ceremony for changing the name of the GOR and the new stadium, Thursday (26/1/2023), Pangdam IX/Udayana said that the forerunner to the establishment of the Praja Raksaka GOR was a real contribution left by its predecessors for the development and progress of the Kodam IX/Udayana.
“Change the name of GOR Praja Raksaka to GOR Yudomo is a form of commemoration and respect for the services and career journey of Major General TNI (Ret.) Yudomo Sastrosuhardjo, S.I.P., while serving as Regional Military Commander IX/Udayana,” explained the Pangdam.
The Military Commander further gave a glimpse of the career path of Major General TNI (Ret.) Yudomo Sastrosuhardjo, S.I.P., that he had served in East Timor as Assistant to the East Timor Operational Command and Danrem 162/Wira Bhakti. Subsequently he was promoted several times and in 1997 served as Aspam Kasad, and in 1998 he was entrusted with being the Regional Military Commander IX/Udayana.
Since he was officially appointed as Commander of the Regional Military Command IX/Udayana on May 27 1998 and on June 4 1998 he died in a helicopter crash during a tour of a number of military bases in the East Timor region. At that time he was on his way to the 401st Territorial Combat Battalion and the Kodim in Viqueque area. Furthermore, the body of the deceased was sent to Jakarta to be buried militaryly at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery.
Based on this incident, Pangdam invited all those present to interpret the event as a momentum for “historical reflection” in order to learn lessons and lessons from each episode of the struggle of Major General TNI (Ret.) Yudomo Sastrosuhardjo, S.I.P. to be transformed in a real way in carrying out TNI tasks, especially in Kodam IX/Udayana.
“With a term of office of only eight days, from the time he was sworn in on May 27, 1998 until his death on June 4, 1998, he is the definitive Regional Commander with the shortest tenure in history,” added Major General Sonny.
Ending his remarks, the Pangdam advised all Kodam IX/Udayana soldiers to properly care for and manage these sports facilities so that they have a long service life and can be used by members and the public to carry out various sports activities, in order to bring closer relations and the realization of TNI-People’s unity.
